Malang, where the journey begins

Well, hello there. I’m back at writing my story for supporting my father’s tabloid. First of all, I’m not a good English writer but I’d love to share my story so here it goes. My father asked me to write about my college experiences.

It’s a long journey for me to get in college because I have to start studying social instead of my major in high school which it was nature science. But, my family and friends really supported me on this so I put a lot of work to be a Communication science student and here I am a communication science student in Brawijaya University.

Brawijaya University is located in Malang, East Java which means 870.0 kms away from my family, my friends, Depok, everything I have been living with since I was a little kid. That’s when the real journey begins.
Malang, most people would come up with ‘cold’ and ‘low-cost of living’. Those people we’re not completely wrong. Malang is cooler than Depok, obviously. I can’t tell whether the life’s cost in Malang is low or not because I have no idea how much it cost to live a day in Depok.

Anyway, Malang is a really beautiful city.  It has the crowded city parts but it’s also filled with a lot of beautiful scenery.  I have gone to two beaches already in Malang and both were really beautiful and peaceful, a perfect getaway from college stressful things.

*Catatan Demo 4 November 2016 tuntut Ahok, Gubernur DKI Jakarta

SITUASI demo yang sempat berujung rusuh telah dikendalikan aparat dengan cepat di lapangan. Peristiwa hari Jumat (4/11/2016) itu bikin kita perlu konsolidasi lalu berupaya tumbuh sebagai bangsa yang lebih 'sehat' dan bermartabat.

Demo tersebut mestinya berakhir dengan damai. Namun, terindikasi ada tiga titik yang hendak 'digoyang' (oleh penyusup?) agar terjadi benturan dengan aparat. Jika jatuh korban, itu dijadikan alasan untuk terus melakukan 'perlawanan'. Atau jika rusuh lebih lama dengan banyak korban, delegitimasi pemerintahan bahkan penumbangan Jokowi menjadi lebih mudah dilancarkan.

Demo memang hal biasa. Menjadi soal kalau demo itu misalnya ditumpangi orang-orang "nekat", yang karena 'cuci otak' menganggap pemerintah sebagai "thogut" (setan). Apalagi jika kawin kepentingan dengan pihak yang punya agenda tertentu, atau mereka yang 'kecewa' kepada rezim yang berkuasa saat ini, atau mereka yang begitu kuat dirasuki hasrat berkuasa. Menunggangi kegiatan 'bela agama' dengan interes politik kekuasaan tentu tidak pantas.
